THE WORLD PEACE PRAYER SOCIETY - for peace on Earth
The World Peace Prayer Ceremony
Deborah Moldow worked with the World Peace Prayer Society from 1994-2017, promoting the prayer “May Peace Prevail on Earth” around the world. This prayer will always be close to her heart. The principle activities were the World Peace Prayer Ceremony and the Peace Pole Project.
Deborah led moving ceremonies with the flags of all nations at the United Nations and many other locations, including Peace Pole dedications around the world.
Some memorable World Peace Prayer Ceremony locations included the Native American Prayer Vigil for the Earth at the base of the Washington Monument; at the Tibetan Children's Village in the presence of His Holiness the Dalai Lama; and at the dedication of a Peace Pole in remembrance of the victims of the U.S. Embassy bombing in Nairobi, Kenya. Deborah leads a Flag Ceremony for students at the United Nations each year in celebration of the UN International Day of Peace on September 21st.
The Peace Pole Project
There are currently more than 250,000 Peace Poles around the world. Deborah has been sent to officiate at Peace Pole dedications in such diverse places as Haiti, Argentina, Jordan, Australia, Switzerland and South Africa.
She has also led Peace Pole dedications in many parts of the United States, including an installation of Peace Poles representing all the participating countries at the 2002 Winter Olympic Games in Salt Lake City.
A particularly memorable Peace Pole dedication was at Robben Island, the site of Nelson Mandela’s 18 years of imprisonment, during the 1999 Parliament of the World’s Religions in Cape Town, South Africa.
